Meet Our Founder: Shagun Mehra

From the verdant slopes of the Himalayas to the forefront of wildlife conservation, Shagun Mehra's journey is a testament to a life dedicated to harmony between humans and nature. A childhood immersed in the great outdoors and early experiences with wildlife parks sowed the seeds of compassion and a deep-rooted desire to protect the voiceless.

With a professional background in hospitality and food and beverage, Shagun has always felt a strong pull towards serving both humans and animals. As she celebrated her 40th year, it became clear that her true calling was to advocate for endangered wildlife, those majestic beings without a voice to claim their rights or a platform to fight for their survival.

In 2018, inspired by conservation luminaries Dr. MK Ranjitsinh and Dr. YV Jhala, Shagun founded the Ear to the Wild Foundation (EWF) as a beacon of hope for elephants facing the threat of train collisions. Her vision for EWF is not just a mission; it's her purpose in life—a commitment to building a better world through kindness, innovation, and relentless dedication to conservation.
